Seagulls and Pelicans.

hi there,
we out out fishing this morning at sunrise to beat the heat. We didn't catch many fish but I did get some photos of the seagulls and one pelican on the way back in.

the sunrise behind us as we went out to sea.

with this heat wave here in Perth I haven't been venturing out much so that is why we got up at 3.30am to be out before it got too hot. It was 28 deg on the coast and by the time we got home it was 38 deg. Big difference.

Merry Christmas

Today I went to visit my sister Marion.  She has the most beautiful Christmas tree and I wanted to try to take a nice photo of it. It was a lovely visit with my sister Sue as well and this is the photo I took... well one of many.

Merry Christmas to you.

Playing with water

hi there,
today I met up with the Friends in Focus group and we played with some water droplets and also soda water on flowers. I learnt lots about how to do things like this. Here are some of the shots I took today.
This first one is beaded water on a piece of glass with the daisy underneath and if you look closely at the droplets you can see the daisy in them.

with this next photo I have taken it with the usual settings on my camera and you can see the flower is dark and the sky is showing. In the following photo just by changing the settings you get to see the flower and white behind where the sky is. So different by just changing a few settings.

In the next 2 photos there is a small aquarium set up with a flower held upside down in it and then added soda water which causes the bubbles around the flowers. Such fun can be had with a few simple supplies and some help from a friend.

Thats all for today and as soon as I get to edit my photos from our family get together's, I will add them here too.
have a good week

Fireworks

While in Busselton the Show was on and they had Fireworks. I had just been reading up on taking photos of fireworks so decided to have a go. It was a small show so there wasn't a lot of width in the display but here are some photos I took.

Not too bad for a first try.
take care

Wildflowers in Busselton

hi there,
Graham and I went to Busselton for our 10th wedding anniversary on November 2nd.  While there we went out to a bush area and walked through some bush tracks. There were a few orchids and a lovely flower called a Blood Flower. I really loved this flower. here are a couple of photos of it.

I will come back tomorrow to show a couple of the spider orchids I found.
have a good weekend

I was visiting our friend Gus's place last night and there were lots of birds in the garden. This is one that I managed to get close enough to, to get a decent photo.

Enjoy your week

Skye and her bones

Hi there,
This morning as I walked by a basket of clothes that Graham had been searching in.... (yes I am a terrible wash person. I wash the clothes but they don't always get put straight away).... I trod on a bone that had apparently been buried in the washing. Skye loves her bones but as most dogs do she likes to bury them. Its usually in the pot plants but every now and then she decides a basket of washing is a better place.
This is Skye looking like she has enjoyed her bone.

This was just a lucky catch of Skye licking her lips...
have a great day

Seagulls and Pelicans

We went out yesterday to go fishing off the boat but due to motor problems we didn't get to go fishing but I took some photos of the seagulls and pelicans. With the blurry ones because they were flying I played with some artistic effects on Photoshop.

The last 2 photos are of the gutsy pelican who took all the fish scraps I threw in the water.
thanks for stopping by for a look.

Burns Beach

Hi there,
last night I went to Burns Beach with the Friends in Focus group and took photos of the sunset and the water on the rocks. Unfortunately there was a hair on my lens so every photo had it in the middle. I did manage to crop a couple down. It was a lovely evening on the beach.

I love the soft water effect you get with a slow shutter speed.
I will be back with some of seagulls.
have a good week

Sarah and Claire

hi there,
Its been awhile since I popped in here to show you some photos. I have had the opportunity to have a practice photo shoot with my friend Sue's grand daughters. Sarah and Claire allowed me to photograph them to learn a little about portrait photography. We had a fun afternoon in Sue's garden. Let me know what you think of these photos. Aren't they lovely girls.

Its been awhile....

hi  there,
I didn't realise how long it had been since I posted here. I have taken so many photos but neglected to post any. Well I had better remedy that. These are a few photos of the Osprey Eagle at Geraldton. I borrowed someones zoom lens for a few minutes and got the close up one. The nest was on top of a pole. It was interesting watching and waiting to get that great shot.

I was pretty happy to get one of it coming in to land on the branch.
I hope you have enjoyed this lovely sunny Sunday.
thanks for taking a look

Steps and more Steps

Hi there,
here are a few photos of the steps in and out of Beedilup Falls. I have real trouble with stairs due to arthritis but I was determined to make it in there to take the photos of the falls. My sister Sue took a photo of me to prove I actually made it.

I am going away on a photographic weekend with my friend Chris this weekend. It is up in Geraldton so we should get some nice photos of orchids and wildflowers. I am really looking forward to it. I will have lots of photos to show you next week.
